FSSF T5 PARACHUTE SET

A rare variant of the T5 was produced of undyed fabric -that is solid white - for test unit purposes on specifications from Wright Field. The intent was to provide a stark contrast for photography. Some of these were made available to the experimental arctic airborne unit (Co.B 503rd P.I.Bn) that trained in Utah from January to March 1 942. Perhaps as many as 100 were also sent to the First Special Service Force when a company of that unit was placed on standby to make a drop onto a beach on Kiska in the Aleutians.
